The South African Weather Service is warning of an intense cold front, which is expected to sweep across Western Cape from 26 August. Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast for the province, with heavy rain also likely in Cape Town and the surrounding areas. The stormy conditions are expected to move across the Eastern Cape and Northern Cape on 27 August, with the potential for gale-force winds. Snow is also predicted at higher ground in all three provinces. There is the risk of storm-related disruption in affected areas, including localised flooding and storm damage.
