Protesters are blockading roads in Daveyton, East Rand, after they were prevented from invading land in the area. The protest began on 18 August, when police officers prevented the illegal invasion. Today, protesters erected the barricades at 0500hrs on roads leading in and out of Daveyton, including Gumede Street, Eiselen Street and Laurie Road. No arrests or injuries have yet been reported, but the situation remains tense as police attempt to remove the barricades and personnel should avoid the vicinity.
