A new report by Human Rights Watch states that the conditions in Harare indicate a high risk of a cholera outbreak. The report, “Troubled Water: Burst Pipes, Contaminated Wells and Open Defecation in Zimbabwe’s Capital” warns that sanitation is extremely poor, especially in the area of Zengeza, just outside the capital. Cholera killed some 4,200 people in Zimbabwe from 2008-2009.
