ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Thousands of doctors and nurses throughout Croatia have gone on strike demanding more money for working extra shifts, overtime and standby. Wednesday's strike came after the government rejected demands made by union in negotiations. Organizers say that the strike does not include primary health care and emergency services. Croatian state television says that up to 80 percent of doctors and nurses have joined the strike in some hospitals, and that far fewer patients than usual have showed up to seek medical care.
