The US Geological Survey reports a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Lata on the Snta Cruz Islands. Geoscience Australia reported the quake as 6.6 on the Richter Scale. No tsunami warning has been issued. An 8.0 magnitude earthquake in the same area in February caused a tsunami that left at least 10 people dead.
