Guam residents prepare for Typhoon Dolphin to make landfall

HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — A typhoon is expected to bring 40- to 60-mile-per-hour winds to the southern part of Guam by Friday.

The Pacific Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1PGeIDl) the latest bulletin from the National Weather Service puts Typhoon Dolphin 710 miles from the territory, moving west at 12 miles per hour.

Maximum sustained winds are at 85 miles per hour.

Gov. Eddie Calvo placed Guam under a condition of readiness and is asking residents to prepare emergency kits, fuel generators and stock up on nonperishable foods.
