The government has announced that citizens will once again be permitted to buy US dollars, following a two-year ban on their purchase. Citizens and small businesses will be permitted to buy up to USD 2,000 per month, if their salary is over USD 900 per month. The government is easing restrictions after the peso dropped 12 percent in one day on 23 January. During the two-year ban, dollars were only available on the black market, adding to already high inflation.
