State news agency MENA reported that police and army personnel had repelled an attempt by armed supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood to storm the Deir al-Barsha police station in south Mallawi, Upper Egypt. Authorities accused the demonstrators of opening fire on the station after encircling it, injuring a conscript. There have been several mob assaults on police stations since the ousting of President Mohammed Morsi, such as the attack on the police station in Kerdasa, near Cairo.
