Authorities shut down a radio station that had aired reports of electoral fraud as the general election was taking place. The government said that Legende FM was airing false allegations of cheating. The closure prompted several hundred youths to protest outside the station’s building in Lome. Although the protest was rowdy, there were initially no reports of police using tear gas to break it up.
