Security has been heightened in Kathmandu ahead of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit scheduled from 22 to 27 November, when the heads of eight nations will congregate. All entry points to the city, at Thankot, Farping, Jagati and Sitapaila, have been put under electronic surveillance and security checks have been heightened at domestic and international bus and rail stations and airports. Personnel travelling to Kathmandu between October and November are likely to face increased security checks and restrictions in certain locations. Travel and identity documents should be kept at all times during transit.
