The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for south-east Queensland, with heavy hail and damaging winds expected in the area. Warwick, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Coolangatta, Ipswich, Boonah, Beenleigh and Caboolture are likely to be affected by the storm. Residents have been advised to remain indoors and ensure their vehicles are also stored in a safe place due to the likelihood of downed trees. A spate of thunderstorms have hit Australia in recent weeks, triggering localised flooding, power outages and associated disruption.
